Bachata Dancing? Supposedly there is "Dominican style" and the "modern" style?

Bachata comes from the Dominican Republic so is the modern style a non DR style? I have seen them both and although I like the "Domincan" style bachata, the moderno seems a bit more romantic, and definetly easier to learn. (2 steps to the left, shift your weigt to one side lift opposite leg and slightly toss your hip. rpt in the opposite way) Did the modern style come from another country or something? I’ve also noticed that some self proclaimed bachata ‘purist’ talk down on the modern style saying thats its not the REAL bachata etc. Anyone with any insight on this asunto?

I wish i could help you…Im half dominican so i should know these things ! But unfortunately,my family isnt in touch with their Dominican side at all,so although I have heard of bachata,I couldnt tell you nothing about it. SOOORRRY!
